The story behind the artwork
Too Late for Us explores the quiet moment when we realise that something once shared can no longer remain the same. The two cups, placed within each other, become a symbol of connection, memories and the traces left behind when a relationship reaches its end.
The artwork is created through layered photography and digital composition, where fragments from different places and moments are brought together to form a new visual narrative. The background elements include photographs from Broder Jakobs in Lund, a street art wall on Skomakaregatan in Malmö, and butterflies captured in Alicante, Spain.
These separate fragments are transformed into a poetic space where memories, places and emotions meet. The cups represent closeness and shared moments, while their fragile balance reflects the uncertainty of holding on to something that has already begun to disappear.
Too Late for Us is not only a story about an ending, but also about acceptance, change and the beauty found in memories. It explores the space between holding on and finding the courage to let go — the moment when we understand that some stories remain meaningful, even when they are no longer ours to continue.
